TON Blockchain Partners With Axelar for Cross-Chain Interoperability

-

TON blockchain and Axelar have joined hands to increase the former’s cross-chain capabilities and better user experiences.

The Open Network (TON), a Telegram-developed decentralized blockchain, has announced a partnership with Axelar Network, a cross-chain interoperability solution. Axelar’s Mobius Development Stack (MDS) will connect TON to 68 blockchains, allowing for tremendous reach across the ecosystem.

TON’s move to bring this integration to its platform will improve the user experience of the dApps on its chain, as users can connect with implementations deployed on other networks. Simultaneously, the Axelar connection will provide faster cross-chain asset and data transfers. Eventually, these benefits will help TON achieve the adoption it seeks.

Axelar can bring asset and data flow between all chains within the Cosmos Inter-Blockchain Protocol (IBC), Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), and Polkadot ecosystems. The interoperability solutions will further add Flow, Hedera, Solana, Stellar, Sui, and XRP Ledger, making it a powerful integration for TON.

“Axelar MDS is an ideal choice for a TON interoperability layer: it’s an open, developer-friendly stack that enables secure, one-click integration for building apps across networks,” TON’s director of ecosystem development, Anthony Tsivarev, said.

Georgios Vlachos, Axelar Network’s cofounder and Axelar Foundation’s president, mentioned, “We’re inspired already by what developers are building on TON, and we’re looking forward to connecting MDS so devs can bring it openly to users and assets across Web3.”

Axelar functions differently than a bridge. It will act as a consensus point for cross-chain asset movements and prevent liquidity fragmentation often associated with blockchain bridges. Moreover, it will also eliminate the confusion aroused by the existence of numerous bridged versions of a single token.

As TON hosts the raging Web3 section that has become Telegram’s Mini Games, including popular titles like Hamster Kombat and Notcoin, the new cross-chain features allow its players to take the games’ tokens to other chains. That could increase the usage and trading associated with these tokens, adding increased demand and value.

Such possibilities allowed the TON Foundation to select Axelar over numerous other options that are innovative in their own right.

TON Received Massive Investments This Year

TON has been a repetitive feature in this year’s news cycles because of the major developments coming out of this blockchain growing in popularity. Most recently, it received an investment from the Bitget exchange and Foresight Ventures. Both firms collectively poured $30 million into TON in September, preceded by a $20 million investment in June.
