Tether assists Ontario Police in recovering $10,000 CAD in stolen crypto, reinforcing commitment to combat cybercrime and ensure asset security.

Tether, a leading player in the digital asset industry, has once again demonstrated its commitment to combating cybercrime. In a recent operation, Tether assisted the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in recovering stolen cryptocurrency valued at approximately $10,000 CAD. The swift action was made possible through Tether’s proactive involvement and collaboration with the OPP Cyber Investigations Team (CIT).

The case emerged when a cryptocurrency heist discovered assets in USD₮, Tether, the stablecoin. As soon as Tether learned of the situation, the specific assets were promptly halted. This quick response helped the OPP regain the money and return it to the owner of the stolen money.

The OPP’s Detective Staff Sergeant Addison Hunter said that Tether offered voluntary help and said, “Due to the assistance and cooperation of Tether International Ltd., the stolen digital assets were recovered and returned to the victim. This cooperation was useful to guarantee the rapid restitution of most assets.”

Ardoino pointed out that Tether offers necessary instruments to make the offenders responsible for cybercrimes. The company’s primary objectives are to continue helping victims and maintaining the reputation and security of the digital asset industry.

Tether has long cooperated with the police authorities worldwide. To date, the company has cooperated with more than 195 law enforcement agencies located in 48 jurisdictions. Through this partnership, Tether has frozen over $2 billion of digital assets related to criminal conduct.
