Paolo Ardoino Predicts Quantum Computing Could Unlock Inactive Bitcoin

-

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino predicts quantum computing may unlock inactive Bitcoin but assures Bitcoin security through quantum-resistant solutions and decentralization.

Paolo Ardoino, the CEO of Tether, recently shared his thoughts on quantum computing and its potential impact on Bitcoin. On his official X account, he clarified that quantum computing remains distant from being able to endanger Bitcoin’s cryptographic protection. He pointed out that this advanced technology has the potential to activate previously lost Bitcoin that could resume circulation.

Ardoino believes Bitcoin will implement quantum-resistant addresses well before quantum computing develops into an actual threat to Bitcoin security. Bitcoin users will achieve sufficient time periods to shift their funds between old and new protected addresses. All Bitcoin belonging to Satoshi Nakamoto that remains inactive by Satoshi within inaccessible wallets faces potential exposure to being unlocked.

He stated users who control their wallets receive sufficient time before Bitcoin needs transferring into secure new addresses. Only Bitcoin in wallets that Satoshi Nakamoto does not control along with those that are currently unclaimed, remain at risk of falling victim to attacks. Quantum computing could potentially scam into Bitcoin wallets following their years of inactivity to recover the hidden funds, according to his assessment.

Quantum Computing Poses Future Risks, but Bitcoin Stays Secure

Ardoino made it clear that despite this theoretical risk Bitcoin would maintain its core numerical restriction of having a total supply of 21 million. According to him no technology including quantum computing will ever be able to change the fixed total of 21 million Bitcoins existing. The commitment between Bitcoin and its decentralized nature together with its limited number of units confirms its permanent role as a scarce decentralized asset.

Ardoino strengthened his stance about Bitcoin serving as a top global asset class. The world possesses a perfect digital asset, which he considers the most valuable asset worldwide. The expert expressed his opinion when quantum computing continues to develop its status as an emerging encryption technique disruptor.

Expert professionals believe the technology currently exists at an early stage although it represents a potential future threat to cryptocurrency security. Ardoino emphasizes through his comments the fundamental need for organizations to maintain pioneering positions in upcoming technological progress. By proactively developing quantum-resistant solutions, the Bitcoin community can ensure the network’s security and stability for years to come.
