Everyone loves a Bitcoin price prediction. Whether it’s naysayers who argue it’ll drop to $0 or enthusiasts who claim it reach the moon, there’s nothing quite like it. Here are some of our favorite – and most outrageous – Bitcoin price predictions of 2017 – 2018.
Top 5 Bitcoin Price Predictions
How long is a piece a string? Depending on who you ask, you’ll receive a different response. The same goes for the price of Bitcoin. No one knows where it’ll go, but that isn’t stopping speculators from giving their price predictions.
Here, we’ll take a look at our top five favorite Bitcoin price predictions. At the time of publishing, the number one crypto is trading at $6,427, according to CoinMarketCap. At its peak last December, though, Bitcoin was valued within touching distance of $20,000.
The fear of missing out (FOMO) and speculator interest in the crypto market pushed prices to unprecedented highs. With it came the price projections that crypto assets such as Bitcoin could go even higher.
1. Tim Draper – $250,000
Bitcoin bull Tim Draper, founder and managing partner of Draper Associates and Draper University, has said that Bitcoin’s price will hit $250,000 by 2022. He’s also of the opinion that cryptocurrencies will replace the fiat system by the same year as well. Back in November, he claimed that anyone trying to use fiat to pay for things would be laughed at.
2. Max Keiser – $100,000 and beyond
Max Keiser, host of The Keiser Report, is another who is bullish on the price of Bitcoin. In a tweet last June, he wrote that Bitcoin’s price would scale to $100,000 and beyond. Detailing a projected chart of Bitcoin, he notes that each time the price peaked, a period of readjustment ensued before another peak was achieved. He states that this will continue bringing it to $100,000 and above into the future.
3. John McAfee – $1 million by 2020
No price prediction list would be complete without one from John McAfee, a Bitcoin bull that has doubled down on his price projection. He had initially predicted that Bitcoin would reach $500,000 by 2020; however, in November, he changed that to $1 million. He then claimed that if he was wrong he would eat a certain part of his anatomy. While that image alone is enough to give many nightmares, the fact that his prediction of $15,000 for Bitcoin by June failed to materialize, what are the chances it’ll reach $1 million in two years?
4. Cameron Winklevoss – 40 times its current value
Back in February, one half of the Winklevoss twins claimed that Bitcoin could be worth 40 times its value “one day”. At the time, Bitcoin was trading around $8,000, potentially bringing one Bitcoin to $320,000. Regarding its market cap, which was then valued at $135 billion, Cameron Winklevoss indicated that over a 10-20 year span, it could be worth more than $5 trillion, a stone’s throw away from that of gold’s $7 trillion market.
5. Tom Lee – $125,000 by 2022
Fundstrat’s Tom Lee, another Bitcoin bull, is confident that Bitcoin will hit $125,000 by 2022. He made his projection at the beginning of 2018 following the bull run. He also claimed that Bitcoin would see $25,000 by the end of the year; however, that doesn’t seem likely at the moment.
