DIA Unveils Lumina Testnet for Oracle Revolution

-

  • Lumina provides complete data transparency, from origin to pricing calculation.
  • The mainnet, scheduled to deploy in 2025, will allow for permissionless Oracle setup.

DIA officially launched the testnet of Lumina, an innovative modular oracle infrastructure that aims to make transparency, scalability, and flexibility of integration across blockchains much better. It addresses the common issues with traditional oracles, such as data aggregation, verification, and delivery.

Lumina differentiates itself from all existing Oracle solutions, like Chainlink and API3, as it supports more than one messaging protocol, including compatibility with non-EVM chains, and provides completely traceable data. Earlier oracles did not even show the origin and movement of data, but this application will allow users to follow the entire journey of their data from the source right until the final price calculation. Therefore, it is designed to make users confident about the reliability and accuracy of data in a blockchain.

According to Zygis Marazas, head of product at DIA, this is an important approach because the users can clearly see the whole data journey from source to final price calculation. Such a feature goes hand in hand with the DIA mission of creating trust and ensuring quality data for decentralized applications.

Better Scalability and Cross-Chain Compatibility

Testnet is out now. It will have limited participation. Q1 2025, when it launches as a completely permissionless network. In the mainnet that will come up, anyone can set up oracles without needing the team of DIA to intervene directly, hence making the inclusion process easier for developers to get newer chains and assets integrated.

These combine the OP Stack-based rollup, Lasernet for scalability, and Celestia for data availability into an optimistic rollup. This gives the best scalability benefits while keeping risks lower. Lumina is primarily optimized for Ethereum rollups but also supports non-EVM chains such as Cosmos or Move-based ecosystems through a protocol for cross-chain messaging known as Hyperlane.

For data delivery, Lumina supports both push and pull models. “Having control over the oracle is as important as the feed itself because there’s no one methodology that fits all assets,” said Aiham Jaabari, co-founder of Silo Finance.

As Lumina continues on its path to decentralization, the network will eventually enable open participation, with staking and slashing mechanisms to ensure data accuracy.
