We have seen many cryptocurrency exchanges struggle these past few months. Companies are dealing with a growing number of users. However, their infrastructure often can’t handle it. BitMEX is taking the necessary steps to increase their capacity. More specifically, the company’s capacity can handle 2x-4x the previous capacity. Some improvements have been made to reduce latency as well.
It is rather refreshing to see exchanges improve their capacity before things go awry. Companies such as Poloniex, Kraken, Coinbase, and others are all dealing with large, DDoS attacks, and service outages. That is never a positive development, considering so many people rely on these platforms. In most cases, these companies do not address their infrastructure issues until the damage has already been done.
A Smart Business Decision by BitMEX
BitMEX, on the other hand, is trying to stay ahead of the curve. During their maintenance late last week, the company made some major changes. The central data processing systems now have up to 400% more capacity compared to before. Additionally, the latency has been improved upon quite a bit. All of these steps are taken to accommodate further platform growth. It is evident BitMEX is doing things other companies aren’t willing to do.
One thing BitMEX will need, though, improves liquidity. Although it is not terrible by any means, it doesn’t have the liquidity of some larger competitors either. Then again, if those companies continue to suffer due to their own lack of upgrades, people will eventually migrate. The BitMEX platform has always been quite popular among traders and speculators. It will be interesting to see how these improvements will affect the platform’s position in the market.
Some people feel BitMEX as the world’s best trade engine, by far. That is quite a positive mention for the company, to say the least. Moreover, it will be interesting to see if the company can deal with future growth without too many issues. We can only hope to see other exchanges take such measures before they suffer from more outages. Upgrading infrastructure is an essential part of providing a proper cryptocurrency trading experience.
